The Lamson Litespeed F Reel redefines lightness and strength in a fly reel. The folks at Lamson have pioneered the creation of reels that are exceptionally light for their weight and have done this over and over again. But does there come a time when the bar can’t be raised? The answer is “no” – there are always ways to improve using new ways of thinking, new materials and new processes to exploit. As the people at Lamson like to say – the performance benchmark for a fly reel is retrieve rate per ounce. If you haven’t thought about it before, think about it now: there’s no downside to high retrieve rate other than extra weight. As an example, consider the latest generation 6 Litespeed reels. They are CNC machined with material distributed artfully along critical load paths, making the reels stable and strong and so light you might forget they are there, but they are beautiful enough to make you remember they are. The art of the fly reel derives from the science of the fly reel, but at the end of the day both art and science, when held in balance, serve to make us smile.

The chassis is based on the conical system found in Lamson’s other reels with the addition of a click stop drag knob and a unique spring set that creates a linear progression of torque with very fine resolution at the light end of its range. The Litespeed F spool and frame architecture is super-arbor in scale for high retrieve, but spare and open to promote line drying and, of course, reduce weight.
